♥ Sandy Hook

As I sit here this morning reflecting on the tragedy that occurred last Friday in CT, I am overwhelmed with emotion.  I cannot begin to fathom the amount of sadness and loss the families affected are feeling.  Their lives were forever changed in the blink of an eye in a place that was supposed to be safe.  All I can think about is the terror those poor babies must have been feeling.  Makes me shudder.  And then I think about those teachers, staff and administrators who acted so heroically and saved so many lives by sacrificing their own. Makes my heart swell.  This tragedy could happen anywhere, but somehow it seems a small New England town should be immune.  Completely devastating.  Keeping the victims and their families in my prayers.  Hugging my kids and counting my blessings.

May these heroes rest in peace

Dino Lingo! Russian For Kids (and me)!

My DH's father is a Russian born immigrant and still speaks his native language occasionally. This has posed a problem at times because my kids want to know what he is saying and I can't tell them, lol. I came across a new language program called "Dino Lingo" on Influenster. It is designed for kids, but I think it will work just fine for me too, lol.

Dino Lingo offers a variety of DVD's flash cards, books, CD's and on line videos to teach children over 25 languages, including Russian. (Yay for me)!

My kids and I pulled up the Dino Lingo YouTube channel and watched the Russian clip they have. It was so cute because the video showed a dog and my kids' grandfather has actually used the Russian word for dog - 'sobaka' many times. My son was thrilled and said, "Mom, Dido says "sobaka!"

Check out Dino Lingo and see what they can offer your family! You can get a free lesson here. And if you decide to order, use the code TAKE10 at checkout for a 10% discount!!! :)

Combat Boots For All

Who says you can't wear combat boots everyday?

I am in love with boots of any kind. I practically live in them all winter long. So I was really excited to show off the versatility of combat boots in this contest from the group Simply Stylish.

Could you pull off the boots? With this outfit, I think you could rock some combat boots!! What do you think?

My Wishlist 2012 Contest Entry on Polyvore

Every year around the holidays Polyvore has a 'Wishlist' contest which awards 7 participants the chance to win items from their set. This is my first ever set entry to the contest. It is a SUPER long shot. There are over 3,000 other entries right now, and most of the people are professional designers but I had fun doing it. That's all that matters, right?! ;)

Christmas Cards To Our Troops

I've always wanted to send Christmas cards to our troops, but have been reluctant because it is widely known the majority of cards never get to the soldiers.

While listening to my favorite local Christian station 95.1 Shine FM last night, the topic came up. The callers were voicing the same concern I had. A lot of Americans want to include our veterans in the holiday season but don't know exactly how to go about it.

This is what was suggested last night.

If you follow these instructions your holiday messages should get to a solider and hopefully brighten their day.
My family will be sending 50 Christmas cards to the wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center this year!
